Why Choose AVI Career Training for Your CNA – Nurse Aide (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) Certification?

There are other ways to pursue CNA training in Northern Virginia. Here is why serious students choose AVI.

1. State Approval + COE Accreditation — The Credentials That Actually Matter

Not all CNA – Nurse Aide (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) programs are created equal. Virginia requires that nurse aide training programs meet strict standards set by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and the Virginia Board of Nursing (VBON). AVI Career Training is fully state-approved and holds institutional accreditation from the Council on Occupational Education (COE) — one of the most respected accrediting bodies in career and technical education.

What does that mean for you? Your program is legitimate. Your certification is recognized. Virginia employers and licensing authorities will have zero questions about where you trained.

Many lower-cost “CNA certificate” providers operating in the DC metro area are not institutionally accredited and do not meet SCHEV certification standards. When you apply for a job at Inova, HCA Virginia, Sentara, or any major Northern Virginia health system, they will ask where you trained. AVI’s accreditation answers that question with authority.

2. Small Class Sizes — You Are a Student, Not a Seat Number

At AVI, small class sizes mean your instructor knows your name, tracks your progress, and gives you the individualized attention that clinical training demands.

Learning to take vital signs, perform patient transfers, or assist with personal care is not something you want to practice in a crowd. AVI’s hands-on lab environment is intentionally intimate — because the skills you are building require real feedback from real instructors, not a generic video module.

3. Rolling Enrollment — Start When You Are Ready, Not When a Semester Allows

Your life does not run on an academic calendar. AVI’s rolling enrollment means you are not waiting until next September to begin. When you are ready to take the step, we make it possible to start quickly — not months from now.

This matters when you are a single parent who just made the decision to change careers. It matters when you are a veteran transitioning out of service and need to move. It matters when you are currently unemployed and every week of delay costs you real money.

4. Flexible Scheduling Built Around Your Real Life

AVI understands that most people pursuing CNA – Nurse Aide (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) training are not traditional full-time students. You may be working a part-time job. You may have children at home. You may be caring for a family member — which may be exactly what led you to this path in the first place.

AVI offers scheduling options designed to work around existing obligations. Day, evening, and weekend formats allow you to build your training schedule into your life rather than building your life around your training schedule. Contact our admissions team to discuss which format fits your situation.

5. GI Bill® Accepted — Serving Those Who Served

Northern Virginia is home to one of the largest veteran and active-duty military communities in the United States. If you are a veteran, an active-duty service member, or a military spouse exploring your next step, AVI Career Training accepts GI Bill® benefits — making a fully accredited CNA program accessible without out-of-pocket tuition burden.

Our admissions team can walk you through how to apply your benefits and what to expect.

CNA – Nurse Aide (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) Program Curriculum — What You Will Learn in 150 Hours

Virginia’s state-approved CNA curriculum requires a minimum of 150 training hours, encompassing both classroom instruction and supervised clinical practice. AVI’s program meets the Virginia Board of Nursing’s nurse aide training requirements and prepares students directly for the Virginia Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation (VNACE) — the state licensing exam that grants your official certification.

Classroom & Skills Lab Instruction

Your foundational training covers the knowledge and hands-on competencies every nurse aide needs to perform safely and effectively in a real clinical setting. Core areas of study include:

Patient Care Fundamentals
Understanding the role of the nurse aide within the healthcare team, patient rights, ethics, and legal responsibilities. You will learn how to communicate effectively with patients, families, and supervising nurses — a skill that matters as much as any clinical technique.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
Assisting patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility. These are the core responsibilities of a CNA in every care setting — nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and private home care. You will practice each skill in AVI’s hands-on lab environment until it becomes second nature.
