Tuition & Fees
VA pays tuition and fees directly to AVI. Post-9/11 GI Bill covers 100% for eligible veterans — no tuition bills to you.
Monthly Housing Allowance
Post-9/11 GI Bill pays a monthly housing allowance (MHA) based on the cost of living in Vienna, VA — paid directly to you while in school.
Books & Supplies Stipend
Receive up to $1,000 per academic year for books, supplies, and equipment — paid directly to you at the start of each term.

Montgomery GI Bill® Selected Reserve — Chapter 1606
For Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Reserve and National Guard members with a 6-year service obligation. Monthly benefit paid while enrolled.
Veteran Readiness & Employment — Chapter 31
For veterans with a service-connected disability. VR&E can cover full tuition, fees, books, supplies, and a subsistence allowance — contact AVI to verify eligibility.
Survivors' & Dependents' Educational Assistance — Chapter 35
For spouses, surviving spouses, and children of veterans who are permanently disabled or died due to service. Monthly education benefit available for approved programs.

Veterans with honorable or general discharge and qualifying active duty service
Active duty service members (some restrictions apply — confirm with VA)

Veterans with service-connected disabilities — additional support via Chapter 31 VR&E

Up to 36 months of benefits available. Use remaining benefits after your first program for a second credential.

How to Use Your GI Bill at AVI

Our VA School Certifying Official (SCO) handles the paperwork — you focus on your training

Check Eligibility

Visit va.gov or call 1-888-GI-BILL-1 to confirm which chapter you qualify for and how many months remain

Apply for Benefits

Submit VA Form 22-1990 (new applicants) or 22-1995 (change of school) at va.gov to get your Certificate of Eligibility (COE)

Enroll at AVI

Choose your program, complete enrollment, and bring your COE to our admissions office — or let us know you're using VA benefits during your tour

AVI Certifies to VA

Our VA School Certifying Official submits your enrollment certification to the VA — no action needed on your part once you're enrolled

Benefits Paid

VA pays tuition directly to AVI and sends your housing allowance and books stipend directly to you — typically within a few weeks of certification

Important Things to Know

36-Month Benefit Limit
Most veterans receive up to 36 months of GI Bill education benefits. You can use remaining months for a second AVI program.
15-Year Deadline (Ch. 33)
Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits must be used within 15 years of your last active duty discharge date.
Transferable Benefits
Post-9/11 GI Bill can be transferred to a spouse or dependent children while the service member is still on active duty.
VA Certifying Official On-Site
AVI has a designated School Certifying Official (SCO) who manages all VA enrollment certifications and paperwork on your behalf.
Combine with Financial Aid
In some cases, GI Bill benefits can be combined with Title IV financial aid (Pell Grant) for maximum coverage. Ask our team.
