Why Choose AVI Career Training for Your CNA Certification?
Not all CNA – Nurse Aide (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) programs are created equal. Here’s what separates AVI from the rest of Northern Virginia’s options — and why it matters for your career.
1. We’re Fully Accredited and Virginia State-Approved — and That Protects You
AVI Career Training is COE-accredited (Council on Occupational Education) and SCHEV-certified (State Council of Higher Education for Virginia). These aren’t marketing terms — they’re independent, third-party validations that AVI meets rigorous national and state standards for career education.
Why does this matter to you? Because Virginia law requires CNA training programs to meet SCHEV standards before graduates can sit for the state competency exam. When you train at AVI, you’re training at a program Virginia actually recognizes. Your time and your money are protected from day one.
COE accreditation means AVI has been evaluated against national benchmarks for curriculum quality, instructor qualifications, student outcomes, and institutional integrity.
2. Complete Clinical Training Is Built In — No Scrambling for Placement
Virginia’s Board of Nursing requires CNA candidates to complete both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical hours before sitting for the state exam. Some programs — especially online-heavy alternatives — leave students to find their own clinical sites after the fact.
At AVI, your clinical training is included and coordinated. You’ll gain real, supervised, hands-on experience in patient care settings without having to track down a facility on your own. You get the full picture: theory, skills practice, and clinical application — all in one program, all in one place.
3. A School That Knows Hands-On Training
AVI Career Training has built its reputation on something that can’t be faked: teaching people to work with their hands in human-centered, high-skill environments. Our instructors bring real healthcare experience into the classroom — not just textbook knowledge. Small class sizes mean you’re not lost in a lecture hall. You’re learning, practicing, and getting feedback in a setting where your progress actually gets noticed.
You won’t be a number here. You’ll be a student.
4. Located Right in the Heart of Northern Virginia
AVI is based at 1595 Spring Hill Rd #720, Vienna, VA 22182 — centrally positioned to serve students from Fairfax County, Tysons, Arlington, McLean, Reston, Falls Church, and communities throughout the NoVA corridor.
You don’t need to commute into DC. You don’t need to drive to a distant campus. Your training is local, and so are the job opportunities waiting for you when you graduate.
5. Tuition & Payment Options (No Federal Financial Aid)
Cost shouldn’t be the thing that stands between you and a healthcare career. Federal financial aid (FAFSA/Title IV) is NOT available for this program as it does not meet the minimum 600-hour requirement. AVI offers flexible payment plans and private financing options. We proudly accept the GI Bill® — making AVI a strong choice for veterans and military spouses in the Northern Virginia and DC metro area who are building their next chapter.
Not sure what you qualify for? Our admissions team will walk you through it — no pressure, no jargon.
What You’ll Learn: CNA Program Curriculum
Program Length: 150 Hours
Combining classroom instruction, hands-on skills labs, and supervised clinical practice
AVI’s CNA – Nurse Aide (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) curriculum is built around the competencies required by the Virginia Board of Nursing and the Virginia Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation — the state exam every CNA candidate must pass to earn their certification. From your first day, you’re learning exactly what you need to know to work safely, skillfully, and compassionately in real healthcare environments.
Core Curriculum Areas
Patient Care Fundamentals
Learn the foundation of safe, effective care — how to assist patients with daily activities, support mobility and positioning, and respond to a patient’s physical and emotional needs with skill and dignity.
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
Develop hands-on proficiency in assisting patients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility. ADL support is the cornerstone of a CNA’s role, and you’ll practice these skills until they become second nature.
Vital Signs Monitoring
Learn to accurately measure and record temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. Understanding what’s normal — and what isn’t — is a critical clinical skill that keeps patients safe and supports the nursing team.
Infection Prevention & Control
Master the principles and practices of infection control: hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe handling procedures that protect both patients and healthcare workers.
