Why Choose AVI for Massage Therapy?
There are other massage therapy (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) programs in the DC metro. But there’s a significant difference between completing a program and building a career — and AVI is built specifically for the latter.
Here’s what sets us apart.
🏅 1. Accreditation That Actually Counts
AVI Career Training is COE (Council on Occupational Education) accredited and SCHEV (State Council of Higher Education for Virginia) certified. These are not optional credentials. They are the standard Virginia employers, licensing boards, and financial aid programs rely on to validate your training.
When you graduate from AVI, your credential carries weight — with spas in Tysons Corner, sports medicine clinics in Reston, and wellness centers across the DC metro. When you graduate from an unaccredited program, you may be ineligible to sit for the Virginia state board exam at all.
Don’t find that out the hard way.
🤝 2. Small Cohorts. Real Mentorship. Not a Number.
AVI operates on a boutique training model. Our class sizes are intentionally small so that instructors can work with you — not just talk at you. You will receive direct, hands-on correction on your technique. You will have real conversations about your goals. You will graduate knowing your instructors by name, and they will know yours.
This is the training environment that produces confident, client-ready therapists — not students who walk out the door hoping theory translates to practice.
📍 3. Trained for the Northern Virginia Market
The DC metro area is one of the most lucrative wellness markets in the United States. Northern Virginia’s combination of high household incomes, health-conscious professionals, active military and veteran communities, and premium spa culture creates exceptional demand for skilled massage therapists.
AVI is located at the center of it — Vienna, Virginia, minutes from Tysons Corner, McLean, Reston, and Falls Church. Our instructors know this market. They have worked in it. They understand what local employers expect, what premium clients demand, and how to position yourself for the best opportunities after graduation.
You are not training for an abstract job market. You are training for this job market.
⚡ 4. A Faster Path That Doesn’t Cut Corners
A four-year degree takes four years. AVI’s 500-hour Massage Therapy (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) program is designed around real people with real lives — people who need to get trained, get licensed, and get earning without spending years in a classroom.
Five hundred hours is the Virginia state requirement for licensure. Every hour in our program is intentional, structured around the skills and knowledge the state board tests and the clients you will actually serve. We don’t pad the curriculum. We don’t waste your time. We prepare you.
💰 5. Tuition & Payment Options (No Federal Financial Aid)
The cost of training should not be the reason a career in massage therapy stays a dream. Federal financial aid (FAFSA/Title IV) is NOT available for this program as it does not meet the minimum 600-hour requirement. AVI offers flexible payment plans and private financing options. We are proud to accept the GI Bill® — honoring the service of veterans and active-duty service members transitioning into civilian careers.
We’ll walk you through your options. More on this below.
Program Curriculum
500 Hours. Every One of Them Matters.
Virginia’s Board of Nursing requires 500 clock hours of massage therapy (NO FINANCIAL AID FOR THIS PROGRAM) training from a SCHEV-certified school before you can sit for the licensing exam. AVI’s program fulfills that requirement completely — and does it in a way that prepares you not just to pass a test, but to walk into your first client session with skill and confidence.
