Objective :
The objective of the Nail Technician Program is to prepare students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to competently perform nail care services in accordance with the laws and regulations of the Virginia Board for Barbers and Cosmetology (DPOR).
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to demonstrate proficiency in nail technology services, including manicuring, pedicuring, artificial nail application, nail enhancement techniques, and related safety and sanitation procedures. The program emphasizes infection control, professional ethics, client consultation, and workplace safety to ensure public protection and professional responsibility.
Graduates of the program will be qualified to apply for the Virginia Nail Technician licensing examination and, upon passing, seek entry-level employment as a licensed Nail Technician in salons, spas, or related professional settings.
Occupations Available : Graduates of this program are provided with the tools to practice in a variety of settings, including private practice, health clubs, chiropractic or osteopathic offices, beauty salons, stress reduction, sport centers, as well as many other locations.

Program Overview:
The Nail Technician Program consists of a total of 150 clock hours, as required by the Virginia Board for Barbers and Cosmetology (DPOR).
Theory (Classroom Instruction): 50 clock hours
Includes instruction in:
Infection control and sanitation
Nail structure and disorders
Virginia laws and regulations
Safety procedures
Professional ethics and client consultation
Clinical / Practical (Hands-On Training): 100 clock hours
Includes supervised hands-on practice in:
Manicuring services
Pedicuring services
Artificial nail application and removal
Nail enhancement techniques
Proper sanitation and safety practices
All clinical (practical) hours are completed under the direct supervision of a licensed instructor in a licensed school environment, in compliance with DPOR regulations.
Students must successfully complete all 150 clock hours, including both theory and clinical hours, to be eligible for program completion and to apply for the Virginia Nail Technician licensing examination.
